I’ve been a bit quiet recently, haven’t I? I’m sorry! 
That’s simply because I didn’t have anything useful to say. No, that’s not true. I never have anything useful to say, but that usually doesn’t keep me from saying it.
Er. Where was I? Oh, yes. I wanted to tell you what I’ve been up to. Right.
Most of it was writerly stuff. You know, a while ago I started writing this short story, and when I had it finished I realized that the deadline for submitting it to a suitable anthology had passed. Which wasn’t my fault, I swear. I got told the wrong deadline. I’m not THAT disorganized.
But I had become quite fond of the story, especially the MC, and before I knew it, I was already adding chapters. Today I crossed the 40k mark, and if I keep it up, I’ll have a rough first draft tomorrow. This will be my first conscious attempt at what so many people have accused me of in the past – writing for a YA audience. Seriously. The MC is a high school girl and I use no, repeat no, profanities. That’s harder than it sounds.
The other thing that’s keeping me busy is the fact that I’ve had this idea of assembling a few writers I love and make our own anthology. I had a nagging suspicion that it would end up like all those projects everyone is initially enthusiastic about, but the submission deadline was a week ago, and lo and behold, more than 30 submissions and a very, very satisfying level of quality throughout. I’ll keep you updated about the progress. I have a feeling, it’s going to be great. It already is.
I hope this suffices to explain why I’ve been so absent. Sorry. It won’t…who am I kidding. It will happen again.

Congrats on keeping profanity away from your MS! : D I have tried, but I write humor, so, no way, and a romantic fantasy where they do use a few bad words every now and then, but they’re like old bad words, so they don’t count, right? Yeah, they totally don’t count.
So cool that you’re making an anthology! I’m sad I arrived late to the party!

Of course those old bad words don’t count! They’re sort of a history lesson, right? And if it’s a lesson it can’t be bad.
We kept this anthology within a very close circle of writers, but if it works out, we might do another next year and be more open about submissions. In fact, a lot of people said they’d like to go for comedy the next time, so you might fit right in!
