In terms of New Year’s resolutions, I only had two. One, be more active on my website, two, learn to say no. Well… a quick look on the number of posts I’ve already written this year (zero), and beta reads and other pro bono stuff I’ve agreed to (don’t ask), I guess that didn’t really work out as planned. So let’s just pretend January never happened, okay?
Anyway, me has some news. I’ve sort of fallen into a writerly hole ever since Alice, and now I’m busy trying to munchhausen my way out of it (that’s when you drag yourself out of the mud by your own hair). One way to do this, is collaborate with other writers (because there’s nothing like a good bit of mutual ass-kicking to get things done). In other words, Cake & Quill are soon (as in sometime next week, if all goes well) publishing their next anthology, Hearts & Other Dead Things, and I’m proud to say that I’ll have a short story and two pieces of flash fiction in there. All proceeds will again go to charity, just in case you need another reason to actually go and purchase this book.
Also, I got a new camera for Christmas, which I now keep dragging everywhere I go. By the way, you should try that, too. Taking a camera with you makes you look at things differently. You’ll look for possible motifs everywhere, which will allow you to see the peculiar beauty in the most mundane things, which works wonders if you happen to suffer from depression. Now, I’m far from a professional photographer, but since the advent of digital photography, and, you know, being able to take myriads of pictures instead of only 24 or 36, even I get in a lucky shot now and then. And since we all need images on occasion, I’ve decided to make those lucky shots available here on my website, for anyone to use as they please. Have fun with them!
