If anything ever changed on New Year’s Day, it surely wasn’t me. I mean, look. 2017 is two weeks old already, and I haven’t written a single blog post. I feel guilty every time I remember I even have a website.
It’s not easy, writing blog posts. You think you should deliver something of importance, something actually worth reading, and whenever you try it, you realize you’re little more than rambling and seriously, who needs to read this crap.
Okay, okay, since you’ve come this far and apparently are still reading, I’ll give it a go. Let me start with what 2017 will bring in terms of this girl making up things in her head. The third part of Alice, It Never Rains, is in the final editing stages and I’m planning to publish at some point in February or March, depending on how quickly I can get it finished. What do you mean, depending? Get your rear in gear! Sorry, yep, I totally should, only the thing is, the mad little worm that lives in my brain and whispers all those stories to me won’t shut up and I’m already writing part four with one hand while trying to polish up part three with the other. That’s good news, right? It means it won’t end up a trilogy. Yay me. Also, the Cake & Quill girls and boys are doing it again. The next anthology is with the editor, and coming soonish. Watch this space for the upcoming cover reveal and links and stuff.
What else is or isn’t new? Not much, other than that it seems I’m less silly than I thought. Challenging myself to doing 99 silly things before my next birthday might have been a mistake. Or maybe it made me more careful… I finally managed #3 and #4 though. You’re sitting? Because #3 was…
Killing Carrie Fisher
Okay, that wasn’t really me, but for a second, it felt that way. A friend of mine remarked on Facebook on how 2016 must have been written by George R.R. Martin and speculated on whether anyone would survive the finale. By that time, news had got around that Carrie Fisher had had a heart attack, but all seemed fine. So it was in a burst of overjoyed stupidity that I commented, ‘Carrie Fisher is still alive!’ That friend instantly got back with, ‘Noooo! You jinxed it!’
I must have done exactly that. I’m deeply sorry. Hand in hand with this goes #4, which was…
Apologizing for killing Carrie Fisher
Yep, I seriously went and said I was sorry and that it was all my fault. Instant mockery ensued. That friend (yes, we’re still friends) spent a good few days replying to every single comment I made anywhere with, ‘You killed Carrie Fisher.’ Duh.
Here’s hoping 2017 will make up for all the sins 2016 committed. On the other hand, there’ll be Donald Trump, so maybe it won’t. We can still hope, though. Thanks, Pandora, good job there.
Have a good year, people, wherever you are and whatever you’re doing, no matter what you believe in or which side of the aisle you’re sitting on. And if you’re out of hope, take a look at my new favorite meme. It’s bound to help.
